Annoyance Recipe: Bangus sa Tausi (Milkfish in Salted Black Beans)

You maybe be wondering why it is entitled annoyance recipe.

This is because to be able to cook this dish, I get irritated first on the saleslady who assisted me in looking for the ingredients..

This is the story goes.

I was in the province before, asked the lady if they have, tausi (salted black beans), she said yes, we have.

And I asked again, you have tokwa (tofu)?

She then replied again, yes we have.

And I asked again for the third time, you have celery?

She became irritated now and asked me, what do you really want to buy?!

Having been away from the province for years, of course I don't know now if the ingredients of Bangus sa Tausi are available there so I'm asking her.

Pissed too, I replied, all of those!

I can't blame her anyway 'coz the dish is not a common dish in our province.

Going back to the dish, here's how I cooked it.

No measurement exactly. All are in estimation.

What you need?

1 pc 1/2 kilo of bangus (milkfish)

2 pcs tokwa (tofu) ( depends on you how many you want to use)

ginger

3  pcs. ripe tomatoes

1 medium size onion

3 cloves of garlic

black pepper

1 stalk celery

oyster sauce ( I don't use soy sauce)

cooking oil

tausi (salted black beans)

salt

water

How I cooked it?

1)  Fried the tokwa first, followed by bangus.

2) On the same pan, saute the ginger first then garlic, onion, tomatoes and the tausi.

3)  Add the oyster sauce, black pepper and water.

4) Bring to boil and add the bangus.

5) Simmer in few minutes.

6) Add the tokwa.

6) Season with salt based on your preference.

7) Add the celery after.
